Background:

The school opened in 1974 to meet the needs of an expanding Catholic polulation in the Ballymena area. It now serves the urban community of Ballymena and the rural community of the greater Crebilly area. It offers 'excellent' facilities with well-equipped classrooms, a recently refurbished library, infant play area and separate classrooms for music, environmental studies and computers. It offers a 'balanced and broadly based' curriculum. Extra-curricular activities add a valuable dimension to the children's education and include soccer, Gaelic football, netball, short tennis, golf, athletics, swimming, quizzes, choirs and cycling proficiency. The school is proud of its 'highly successful' music department. Specialist music teachers visit the school every week and pupils may play a range of instruments. All pupils are encouraged to take part in the annual Ballymena Music and Drama Festival.
